History of Faith Baptist Church

Faith Baptist Church of Raymore began as Bible Baptist church of Raymore – a ministry founded by Pastor Jim Gray and two other families.  Brother Gray and those families had a vision that Raymore, Missouri should have an independent, Bible believing church.  Services began in July 1996 at 212 Sunrise Drive.  The following year the church purchased a small building located at 414 S. Franklin Street.  As the church grew, the Lord provided so that a 3,000 square foot sanctuary could be added.  In early summer of 2007 Pastor Gray, due to health issues and a sense of God’s leading, resigned as pastor.  Prayerfully, the church voted collectively to extend a call to missionary Derek Thomas to take pastoral leadership.  Bro. Thomas accepted that call as from the Lord and became pastor in August of 2007.  For a 1-year period of time the church came under the guidance of Tri-City Baptist Church, and during this time added Jerry Wass as Music Pastor, voted unanimously to become Faith Baptist Church of Raymore and soon after paid off the balance of debt on the building.

In July 2011 Faith Baptist Church purchased 8.36 acres at the southeast corner of E. Hubach Hill Rd. and S. Prairie Lane Rd.  This acquisition will allow the church to expand her influence in the region for the glory of her Head.  We thank the Lord for the vision and work of those who followed His direction to begin this ministry and for those who, through the years, have served the Lord faithfully as part this local body.  As we meet to worship and serve the Lord Jesus Christ there is a spirit of anticipation of that which He will do at Faith Baptist in the future.
